Dhaka, Oct. 16 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said people want election to save the country, but a vested quarter is out to delay the polls by giving pressure on the government with various demands.

"People want election to save the country. Yet, some parties are maneuvering to defer it. The Proportional Representation (PR) system is beyond public understanding. Once the election is held and a government is formed, all issues can be discussed in the parliament," he said.
