Dhaka, Sept. 6 -- More than 1.5 lakh police members will undergo special training ahead of the upcoming national elections scheduled for February next year, officials confirmed on Friday.

"We are preparing training for over 1.5 lakh officers to ensure the elections are free, fair, neutral, and peaceful," said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Quazi Zia Uddin while briefing journalists.

Uddin, who oversees human resources (HR) development at police headquarters (PHQ), expressed optimism that the polls would become a "milestone in the country's history."

According to him, the HR division has prepared nine separate training modules over the past three months, drawing on advice from election specialists and legal experts.
