Bangladesh, July 14 -- MP Akhter Hossen of National Citizen Party (NCP) criticised over the government's decision to allow BNP women MPs elected to reserved seats to perform what he described as "additional responsibilities" in constituencies represented by opposition lawmakers.

He asked whether it signaled a move towards a one-party system and sought clarification on the constitutional basis and scope of such responsibilities in the parliament on Monday.

Akhter Hossen initially sought to raise a point of order immediately, but proceedings were suspended for Asr prayers.
