Dhaka, Aug. 19 -- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader and intending candidate for Dhaka-17 Dr SM Khaliduzzaman has announced a donation of Tk 1 crore for the development of the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH), the country's largest state-run facility for cancer treatment. Speaking at a human chain in front of the hospital on Monday Dr Khaliduzzaman alleged that the institute has been crippled by corruption, syndicate influence, and political interference, depriving patients of timely treatment and putting lives at risk.
"Seven radiotherapy machines are installed here, but only two are functioning while five remain out of order. How will patients receive treatment?" he asked.
