Bangladesh, Aug. 1 -- After several consecutive days of heavy rainfall, the price of green chilies in Ishwardi, Pabna, has surged to a record Tk 300 per kilogram. Prices of almost all vegetables have also increased as continuous rain has disrupted production and reduced market supplies, traders said.

A visit to different markets in Ishwardi on Friday found that green chilies were selling at Tk 300 per kg, while prices at neighbourhood retail shops were slightly higher. Just a week ago, the same chilies were selling for Tk 110-120 per kg, compared with Tk 50-60 per kg only a short time earlier.
