Dhaka, Aug. 26 -- Former chief justice (CJ) ABM Khairul Haque, now in jail, suffered a heart attack and has been admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), widely known as PG Hospital.

His son, Ashikul Haque, confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday evening. "He was taken to the hospital in the morning and admitted to the CCU in the evening. After several tests, it was confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack," he said.

Central Jail Superintendent AKM Masum said Khairul fell ill around 11 am inside the prison and was later transferred to the hospital for treatment.
