Dhaka, Oct. 25 -- Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud has said the Election Commission (EC) has no other choice beyond holding a good election to reinstate the public trust in the electoral process.

"The EC has no other option than holding a good election. It's required for the nation and for the people to achieve confidence in the electoral process. There is no scope to retreat as our back is against the wall," he said.

The Commissioner said this in an interview with the BSS at his office in Election Bhaban at Agargaon here today. Masud said the next parliamentary polls will be held prior to the Eid-ul-Fitr in February next.
