Bangladesh, Oct. 10 -- Dengue claimed one more life in Bangladesh in the latest reporting period, bringing the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 295 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest figure marks a decline in daily deaths compared with the previous report, which recorded five fatalities in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Thursday.

The DGHS disclosed the updated information in its regular dengue bulletin on Friday, October 9.

September remained the deadliest month of the year, with 148 dengue-related deaths, according to the health directorate.

The monthly figures show a sharp increase in fatalities during the second half of the year.
