Dhaka, Nov. 6 -- At least ten people died of dengue fever across the country in the last 24 hours. Wednesday marked the second-highest single-day death toll from dengue this year.

The highest was recorded on September 21, when 12 people died from the mosquito-borne disease within 24 hours.

During this period, 1,069 patients have been admitted to hospitals and so far this year, 302 people have died from dengue, according to a press release by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The DGHS officials said that in the past 24 hours, five people have died in the Dhaka South City Corporation area, three in the North City Corporation area, and one each in Khulna and Barishal divisions.
