Bangladesh, Sept. 12 -- A coordinated cleanliness drive has been conducted at 120 government primary schools in Narayanganj Sadar upazila to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.

The initiative, organised by the upazila administration, is being carried out every Thursday as part of a regular programme.

On Thursday similar cleaning activities were conducted simultaneously at all government primary schools across the upazila.

As part of the drive, garbage and waste accumulated on school premises, around classrooms, playgrounds and other areas were removed.

Special attention was also given to eliminating stagnant water, discarded containers and waste that could serve as potential mosquito breeding grounds.
