Bangladesh, Sept. 18 -- DRUGS have been detected in the systems of several police personnel, the very force expected to play an active role in eradicating drugs from society.
But recently the presence of drugs was confirmed in the system of an SP-rank officer, leading to his temporary suspension.
Such news causes us deep concern amidst the alarming spread of drugs in society.
According to media reports, since 2020, traces of drugs have been found in over 150 police members during dope tests.
The reports say, senior officers - ranging from Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) upwards - had not previously been subjected to dope tests.
Consequently, demands arose from within the force for uniform rules applicable to everyone.
