Bangladesh, June 18 -- Motahar Hossain Talukdar, a senior BNP leader, has been appointed as the first Chairman of the Mymensingh Development Authority (MDA).

The appointment was announced through a gazette notification issued by the Contract and Foreign Appointment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday (June 11).

Motahar Hossain Talukdar is the Senior Joint Convener of the Mymensingh North District BNP. He also contested the last parliamentary election from the Mymensingh-2 (Phulpur-Tarakanda) constituency with the BNP's "Dhaner Shish" symbol but was defeated.
