Bangladesh, Oct. 25 -- The BNP government is a government that runs counter to the mass uprising and has reached an understanding with the banned Awami League, said opposition chief whip and NCP convener Nahid Islam.

He also said Tarique Rahman is holding power illegitimately like fascist Hasina, and has handed the country over to mafias.

He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon at a leaflet distribution and public outreach programme in the capital's Jatrabari.

Nahid said the government had cheated the martyrs of the July Uprising by denying the outcome of the referendum.
