Dhaka, Nov. 1 -- A leader of South Surma Upazila Awami League was stabbed to death on the roof of his house in Sylhet. The murder took place between 6:30 am and 9:30 am on Friday, police said.
The deceased was Abdur Razzak, vice-president of South Surma Upazila Awami League and former general secretary of South Surma Upazila Sports Association. He is the son of the late Moulul Hossain, a prominent arbitrator of Telirai village in Mollargaon Union of South Surma.
Local sources said that Abdur Razzak went to walk on the roof of his house after performing Fajr prayers. When family members could not find him at home around 9 am, they went to the roof and found his bloody body lying there. Later, the police went and recovered the body.
