Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- Citing that Awami League's (AL) activities remains banned in the country, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today said AL could not take part in the upcoming elections slated for February 12 next year.
"The government's stance on AL is clear. Since the activities of the AL are banned and the Election Commission has scrapped its registration as a political party, the party could not participate in the election," he said. The press secretary made the remarks responding to a question from a journalist at a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy here this afternoon.
