Dhaka, Aug. 20 -- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered 17 officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to provide detailed asset declarations.
"Findings from our investigation suggest that these officials may own wealth disproportionate to their known income," said ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain at a press briefing held on Tuesday at the commission's Segunbagicha headquarters.
He explained that during the ACC's data review, clear mismatches were discovered between the assets held by these officials - either in their own names or under proxies - and their officially reported income sources.
