Dhaka, Dec. 22 -- Six pro-Awami League deans at Rajshahi University (RU) have resigned In the face of a daylong student protest.

Registrar Professor Iftikharul Alam Masud confirmed the resignations on Sunday night.The students staged demonstrations throughout the day, including the locking of dean chambers and confinement of the registrar.

Earlier, on Thursday, Salahuddin Ammar, General Secretary of the Rajshahi University Central Student Council (RUCSU ), issued a public ultimatum demanding the resignation of six Awami League-aligned deans, whose two-year terms officially ended on December 17.
