Dhaka, Aug. 11 -- The government has suspended former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner Kazi Moniruzzaman for unauthorised absence from duty and withdrawn service medals from 40 senior police officers accused of deserting their posts.
A circular issued on Sunday by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that Moniruzzaman had been absent without permission since 25 November 2024.
His prolonged absence was classified as misconduct and absconding, prompting the suspension order, which will be effective from his last day on duty.
