Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- In Naikhongchhari Upazila, a border area of Bandarban, police have uncovered a organised gang involved in counterfeit currency.
Based on secret intelligence, a special operation was conducted in which three individuals were arrested with a large amount of fake notes.
Late Thursday night, police raided the border-adjacent Wachakhali area of Dochhari Union in Naikhongchhari Upazila and caught them in the act of exchanging counterfeit money. During the operation, fake notes worth Tk 1,138,000 were recovered.
On Saturday morning, Bandarban Superintendent of Police Abdur Rahman told a press conference that two of the arrestees are Rohingya brothers, and the third is a CNG driver.
