Dhaka, Oct. 27 -- Mongla Port, the country's second largest seaport, witnessed the anchoring of 255 foreign commercial ships in the first 117 days of the current 2025-26 fiscal year (FY), boosting its revenue earnings. Of the total ships, 18 carried 10,608 TEUs containers, while 10 ships imported 3,253 cars of different brands, according to the Mongla Port Authority (MPA).
From July 1 to October 25, 2025, a total of 47 lakh tonnes of goods were handled at the port, said MPA Deputy Director (Public Relations) Muhammad Makruzzaman. He said several measures taken by the interim government have contributed to increasing ship arrivals at Mongla Port.
