Bangladesh, July 22 -- A video allegedly showing Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Gazi Nazrul Islam in a private setting with a woman has circulated widely on social media, prompting the Satkhira-4 MP to claim that the footage was recorded and released as part of a conspiracy.

The video began spreading online on Monday night. Its authenticity and context could not be independently verified.

In a statement posted on his Facebook account, Gazi Nazrul said the woman seen in the video was his second wife, Mosa Mariam Begum, whom he married on June 17 with the consent of both families, including his first wife.
