Dhaka, Nov. 5 -- After failing to secure registration as a new political party, Md Tarek Rahman, member secretary of Amjanatar Dal, began a hunger strike unto death in front of the Election Commission (EC) building in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Around 4 p.m., Tarek staged a hunger strike at the main gate of the EC building in Agargaon, holding a placard demanding party registration.

"The EC has excluded our party from the registration list without giving any reason. We will not leave until we get registration," said Tarek Rahman.
