Srinagar, July 20 -- The Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department Kashmir on Monday issued a public advisory warning of a significantly strong spell of rainfall over the Jhelum Basin on July 21, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy precipitation that could trigger flash floods and a rapid rise in water levels across South Kashmir.

According to the advisory, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, heavy rainfall ranging between 50 mm and 100 mm is expected, particularly in the districts of Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian, during the morning of July 21, followed by another spell of comparatively lower-intensity rainfall on the morning of July 22.
