Sopore, July 31 -- Heavy rains triggered flash floods in Brennaar Nallah near Takiya Khan Mohammad Mundji in Sopore during the early hours of Friday, causing a sudden surge in the water level and posing a serious threat to several residential houses.

Locals told news agency JKNS that the heavy rainfall, which began around 5:00 AM, led to the overflowing of Brennaar Nallah, affecting Takiya Khan Mohammad Mundji, Muqaam Shaheed Mir and Botingoo areas.

The houses of Bilal Ahmad Beigh, Mohammad Ashraf Beigh, Showkat Ahmad Wani, Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, Baidar Ahmad Khan, Imran Ahmad Khan and Haji Saifu Din Khan were reported to be under severe threat due to the overflowing stream.
