Srinagar, June 5 -- In the densely populated Khanda locality, residents say they are living under constant fear as a 33,000 KV transmission line and two 11,000 KV power lines pass through the village's narrow lanes and over residential areas.

Locals claim the high-voltage network poses a serious threat to life and property, especially in an area packed with homes, schools and daily pedestrian movement.

Residents have appealed to the authorities and the Power Development Department to urgently address the issue by either converting the overhead system into an underground cable network or relocating the Power Receiving Station to a safer location.
