Srinagar, Oct. 1 -- The Jammu & Kashmir Assembly witnessed an important discussion on the proposed New Media Policy, with Minister Sakina Itoo raising concerns over the rapid growth of online news platforms and unregistered social-media news handles.
The proposed policy is expected to address issues including the registration and accountability of digital news platforms, misinformation, fabricated content, plagiarism and unethical reporting.
But the debate goes beyond regulation.
