Srinagar, Sept. 21 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly's 10-day Autumn Session began on September 21, 2026, with seven sittings scheduled until September 30. But Day 1 was dominated by protests, slogans and heated exchanges inside and outside the House.
The session began with Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather paying tribute to former ministers Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Dharam Paul and Ghulam Hassan Khan, followed by a two-minute silence.
Soon after Question Hour began, BJP legislators protested over the electricity tariff hike, regularisation of daily-wagers and concerns of NHM employees, with demonstrations disrupting proceedings. The Opposition also raised issues surrounding outsourcing of government jobs and public services.
