Srinagar, Sept. 30 -- The seventh day of the J&K Legislative Assembly's Monsoon Session saw heated exchanges and several key legislative developments. The government withdrew the proposed bills seeking an increase in the salaries and allowances of ministers and legislators following objections in the House, while the pension amendment bill for former legislators was passed.

The House also took up the issue of new guidelines for social-media journalism. Information Minister Sakina Itoo said the House Committee has given the Information Department four months to formulate guidelines, amid concerns over the growing number of social-media journalists and misuse of online platforms.
