Traffic on Jammu-Srinagar Highway to Remain Suspended Tomorrow
Srinagar, July 30 -- Srinagar- Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain suspended for the entire day on July 31 to facilitate widening and restoration work, officials said on Wednesday.
The decision follows separate permissions granted by the District Magistrates of Udhampur and Ramban to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for carrying out carriageway widening at Ladha and Samroli, and removal of loose overhanging debris near Gangroo and Kishtwari Pather on the Udhampur-Banihal section, they said.
In view of the exercise, movement of all types of vehicles will be barred between Jakheni in Udhampur and the NAVYUG Tunnel in Banihal on July 31, the Traffic Police Headquarters said in an advisory.
