Srinagar, Sept. 19 -- Srinagar- A Traffic Police head constable was killed after being hit by a truck near Shampora Bridge in Qazigund area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday morning, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, son of Abdul Sabir Bhat, a resident of Kulpora.

Officials said the accident occurred when a truck bearing registration number JK03Q-9011 allegedly lost control near Shampora Bridge and rammed into the traffic policeman.

Mushtaq sustained critical injuries in the collision and succumbed at the spot, they said.

Following the incident, police seized the truck and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.
