Srinagar, July 22 -- Srinagar- The Supreme Court on Wednesday observed that the nationwide drive to install CCTV cameras in police stations has "taken a positive turn" in recent months, while asking the Centre to address concerns related to funding and maintenance of the surveillance systems.

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta made the observation while hearing a suo motu case on the lack of functional CCTV cameras in police stations across the country.

"It is heartening to note that in this matter, things are moving very well," the bench said, while appreciating senior advocate Siddhartha Dave, the court-appointed amicus curiae, for his efforts in monitoring the implementation of its directions.
