Srinagar, Sept. 29 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed a fresh uproar on Tuesday over the adoption of a resolution seeking restoration of full statehood, with the BJP seeking the removal of Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather and the treasury benches accusing the opposition of disrupting proceedings.

The row erupted at the start of the day's proceedings, a day after the Assembly passed a resolution moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah demanding urgent restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma said the BJP had moved a motion seeking the Speaker's removal, alleging that the resolution was allowed in violation of Assembly rules.
