India, Jan. 10 -- Several parts of Kashmir, including Srinagar, experienced the coldest night of the season as severe cold conditions tightened their grip across the Valley, with a sharp fall in minimum temperatures recorded in most areas, officials said on Thursday.
The intense cold led to the freezing of fringes of several water bodies, including the famed Dal Lake in Srinagar, as temperatures dipped well below the freezing point overnight.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night, a steep drop of 3.5 degrees from the previous night's minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.
