Srinagar, Aug. 22 -- A humble village teacher from Mujpathri in central Kashmir's Budgam district has been battling a nightmare for the past two years after falling victim to a shocking cyber fraud.
In early August 2023, Jalaludin had already noticed suspicious withdrawals from his salary account and rushed to the local J&K Bank branch, asking officials to freeze his account. But as banking hours had ended, staff reportedly kept his application pending and directed him to approach the police instead. The police, in turn, advised him to contact the cyber wing. The bureaucratic shuffle caused crucial delays - delays that fraudsters soon exploited.
