Srinagar, Aug. 13 -- Srinagar- The crescent moon for Rabi-ul-Awal was not sighted on Thursday, and the Islamic month will begin on Saturday, August 15, according to the office of Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Grand Mufti's office said the moon was not sighted on 29 Safar-ul-Muzaffar 1448 AH, corresponding to August 13, 2026.

Accordingly, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, observed on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal, will fall on August 26.
