Srinagar, Sept. 22 -- Srinagar- Consumers in Jammu and Kashmir are expected to bear an additional burden of Rs 251 crore following the recent revision in electricity tariffs, the government informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question raised by MLA Sajad Gani Lone, the Power Development Department said the 6.83 per cent tariff hike notified by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) is expected to generate an additional Rs 251 crore in revenue for the power distribution companies (DISCOMs) during 2026-27.
