India, Oct. 30 -- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para on Friday alleged that Jammu and Kashmir had suffered a financial loss of around Rs 1,000 crore after the High Court struck down demands for water usage charges on hydropower projects.

In a post on X, the Pulwama legislator said the administration's failure to effectively defend the case had cost the Union Territory a significant revenue opportunity.

Para also questioned the absence of an Advocate General for nearly two years, pointing out that the Law Department was under the charge of the Chief Minister.

"If this is how we defend our interests, what's hope for the statehood case?" he said.
