Over 9.79 lakh Vehicles in J&K Categorised as Non-Compliant: Centre
Srinagar, Aug. 6 -- Srinagar-More than 9.79 lakh vehicles in Jammu & Kashmir were categorised as active non-compliant as on July 24, 2026 under the Centre's newly introduced Vehicle Classification Framework, marginally exceeding the number of compliant vehicles in the Union Territory, the Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday.
Replying to a question raised by Dr Sambit Patra, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari said that as on July 24, 2026, Jammu & Kashmir had 9,71,828 active compliant vehicles and 9,79,102 active non-compliant vehicles, taking the total number of active vehicles in the UT to 19,50,930.
