Srinagar, Aug. 3 -- Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir has recorded more than 35 cloudburst incidents so far this year, leaving around 31 people dead and causing widespread damage to homes, roads, bridges, agricultural land and other public infrastructure, highlighting the growing vulnerability of the Himalayan region to extreme weather events.

Official data shows that at least 22 cloudbursts occurred between June 1 and mid-July. Persistent heavy rainfall during the second half of July and early August triggered several more incidents, pushing the total number of reported cloudbursts beyond 35.
