India, March 11 -- Nearly 16,000 vehicles were seized across Jammu and Kashmir in 2025 for violating traffic rules, officials said on Wednesday, even as the traffic department stepped up enforcement measures to improve road safety in the Union Territory.
Inspector General of Police (Traffic) M Suleiman informed Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo during a review meeting that 15,947 vehicles were seized last year for serious traffic violations.
"So far in 2026, 786 vehicles have already been seized for serious violations," Suleiman said.
