Srinagar, Sept. 24 -- The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday carried out multiple raids across the Valley in connection with a fraudulent land compensation case, officials said.
According to police, the case involves compensation for land under the transmission line in Watrad, Dalabal, and Kachwari villages in Khansahib tehsil of Budgam district, which was allegedly withdrawn in favour of non-existent individuals, depriving genuine landowners.
Investigations revealed that crores of rupees were misappropriated through fake bank accounts by employees of M/s Unitac Power Transmission Limited, allegedly in collusion with land brokers and certain bank officials.
