Srinagar, July 1 -- Srinagar- The southwest monsoon became active across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, bringing widespread rain that triggered flash floods, cloudbursts, flooding and a sharp rise in water levels in rivers and streams across several districts, while the Meteorological Department warned of more intense showers over the next three days that could trigger fresh weather-related incidents.

The active spell marked the onset of the southwest monsoon over the entire Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh meteorological subdivision.
