Mirwaiz Recalls Father's Peace Vision, Announces Eid Prayers at Eidgah
Srinagar, May 22 -- Srinagar- Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday invoked his late father's legacy of dialogue and non-violence, criticised restrictions on visiting Mazar-e-Shuhada to commemorate late leader and his fallen comrades, and announced that Eid congregational prayers would be held at Eidgah on May 27.
Addressing the Friday congregation at Srinagar's historic Jama Masjid, Mirwaiz said authorities had once again disallowed visits to Mazar-e-Shuhuda at Eidgah.
"Today, as we gather at this historic pulpit of Jama Masjid, our hearts are filled with pain and disappointment that we were once again not allowed to visit Mazar-e-shuhuda Eidgah to pay tribute to our beloved leaders and the martyrs," Mirwaiz told worshippers.
