Srinagar, Aug. 6 -- Srinagar- Widespread rainfall lashed several parts of Kashmir on Thursday, bringing relief from the recent spell of warm weather but also triggering weather-related incidents, including the death of a shepherd who was struck by lightning in Kupwara district.

Officials said Shahmeer Ahmad Khatana, son of Abdul Rasheed Khatana and a resident of Warsun in Kralpora, was killed after being struck by lightning in the Dutibegh area of the Keran sector during heavy rainfall on Thursday morning. Police have taken cognisance of the incident.
