Srinagar, July 17 -- Budgam- A man was injured after being attacked by a bear in the Tosamaidan area of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday, officials and local residents said.

The injured has been identified as Mohammad Abdullah, a resident of Shunglipora in Budgam district.

According to locals, Abdullah was in the Tosamaidan area when a bear attacked him. Hearing his cries for help, nearby residents rushed to the spot, rescued him and shifted him to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Khag, for immediate medical treatment.

After administering first aid, doctors referred him to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, for specialized treatment in view of the injuries he had sustained in the attack. [KNT]
