India, Sept. 30 -- Leh- The Leh Apex Body (LAB), spearheading the agitation for statehood and constitutional safeguards in Ladakh, on Monday announced that it will suspend talks with the Centre until a judicial inquiry into the police firing is constituted and all detained activists, including Sonam Wangchuk, are released unconditionally.
LAB chairman Thupstan Chhewang and co-chairman Chering Dorjay said restoring a "conducive atmosphere" in Leh was necessary before dialogue could resume. They warned that unless a judicial probe by a retired Supreme Court judge is ordered and all prisoners are released, the LAB will not participate in upcoming talks, even the scheduled October 6 session.
