Srinagar, Oct. 16 -- Reports of unseasonal flowering and leaf growth in apple, almond, and other fruit trees across parts of Kashmir have triggered concern among orchardists, who fear the phenomenon may reflect broader climate change impacts. However, experts have clarified that the early growth is a natural physiological response to plant stress rather than an indication of changing weather patterns.
According to horticulture scientists, premature sprouting occurs when trees experience stress from insect attacks, diseases, or leaf damage, followed by favorable conditions such as mild temperatures and sufficient moisture.
