India, Oct. 6 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved enhancement of the superannuation age of judicial officers in the Union Territory from 60 to 62 years, subject to assessment of their fitness, eligibility, suitability, performance and continued utility.

According to an order issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the decision follows a recommendation of the Full Court of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh made on August 10, 2026.

The competent authority has accorded sanction to the enhancement, subject to the High Court evaluating whether an officer is fit and eligible to continue in service beyond the age of 60.
