Srinagar, April 9 -- Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday dismissed a woman employee from service over her alleged involvement in a drug-related case.

The employee, identified as Shameema Bano, was working as a police follower and had been placed under suspension in June 2021 after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu, in connection with a case under the NDPS Act involving seizure of contraband.

Police said a departmental inquiry was initiated following her arrest.

"After completion of the enquiry and due departmental procedures, SSP Baramulla has issued an order dated April 8, 2026, removing the official from service under relevant provisions of the J&K Police Rules," a police statement said.
