India, Oct. 7 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has terminated the services of Dr Saima Nanda, Consultant Surgeon at District Hospital Budgam, after she remained absent from duty without authorisation for nearly two years.

According to Government Order No. 745-JK(HME) of 2026, dated October 6, Dr Nanda was required to resume her duties on March 1, 2024, after being sanctioned 30 days' earned leave. However, she failed to return to duty from March 1, 2024.

The Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Budgam, subsequently issued an explanation notice to her on March 13, 2024, directing her to resume duties within three days and explain her absence. She neither resumed duty nor submitted a reply at the time.
